This Privacy Policy explains what information CheckAfford.com collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. The short version: the numbers you type into our calculators stay in your browser and are never sent to us.
CheckAfford.com is a free educational website with loan and debt calculators for people in the United States. It is operated by Elba Nabetcy Guissepe Avalo (“we”, “us”). You can read more on our About page.
Calculator inputs. The financial figures you enter (income, debts, loan amounts, interest rates) are processed entirely in your browser. They are never sent to our servers, and we do not store them.
Usage data. When you visit the site, Google Analytics and Google's advertising technology automatically collect technical and usage information, such as:

We use Google Analytics (property G-ZHN6PQSLWN) to measure traffic and understand which pages are useful. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect the usage data listed above. Google processes this data under its own privacy policy. You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting your data by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
We use Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site and other sites on the internet. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites.

CheckAfford.com does not currently contain affiliate links. If we add them in the future, for example to lending marketplaces, each one will be identified on the page where it appears, and if you click one and complete an application or purchase, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you.
When you click an affiliate link, the partner may set its own cookies or tracking identifiers so it can credit us. We do not send the figures you entered in our calculators to these partners. What you submit on a partner's site is governed by that partner's privacy policy.
Affiliate relationships do not change our calculator results or the information in our articles.
Cookies are small files stored on your device. On this site they are set by third parties for two purposes:
We do not use cookies to store what you enter in the calculators, and the EN/ES language selector is not remembered between visits. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time; the site's calculators and articles will keep working.
Our site links to third-party websites, including lenders, financial services and affiliate partners. Those sites have their own privacy practices and we are not responsible for them. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site you visit.
Analytics data is kept for no more than 14 months, according to our Google Analytics retention settings. Emails you send us are kept only as long as needed to answer you and keep a reasonable record. Because the calculators run in your browser, the figures you enter never reach our systems. The site is served over HTTPS.
CheckAfford.com is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Advertising cookies set by Google may count as “sharing” for targeted advertising under some state laws; you can opt out through the links in Section 5 or by using a browser that sends the Global Privacy Control signal.
